If Printfil detects a DOSBox version installed that supports the chosen LPT port or COM port (DOSBox MegaBuild 6, DOSBox SVN Daum, vDos, vDosPlus, and DOSBox-x for parallel ports), it asks you if you want to automatically configure it to capture the port even in that emulated DOS environment. For nullmodem: server, rxdelay, txdelay, telnet, usedtr, transparent, port, inhsocket (all optional). Defaults: serial1=dummy serial2=dummy serial3=disabled serial4=disabled An example of how to configure an actual serial port for I/O use: serial1=directserial realport:com1.

For most devices, the Ports device setup class and the Serial function driver provide the functionality required to operate serial ports and COM ports. To install serial ports and COM ports using these system-supplied components, do the following:

  • Provide an INF file that specifies the Ports device setup class and the Serial function driver as the service for the port.

  • To configure a serial port as COM port, comply with the requirements that are defined in Configuration of COM Ports.
